CELEBRATION ISSUE of HOUSE OF SOLO featuring AURORA

Regular price £20.00

It is easy to get bogged down by the polluting questions of uncertainty and dread that saturate our mainstream media: what does Brexit really mean? How do I go plastic-free? What is the meaning of life?! So easy in fact, that we can sometimes forget the many reasons there are to celebrate. This is why for House of Solo’s 10th issue we set out to remind you of all the reasons, no matter how big or small, that we have to celebrate, rejoice, and applaud this 2019. And if ever there were an issue to inspire you, this is the one. Whether you are interested in music, fashion, film or TV, there will be a story in here that will lodge itself within you. After all, it takes courage to create, and the talented artists within the following pages are here to tell you all about it.

However, before we let you dive into the immersive, inspiring and colourful worlds of our favourite creatives from around the world, let us first take it back to the very beginning and talk about where it all began for us here at House of Solo. Over the last few years, we have had so many reasons to celebrate. You may remember back in 2017 when we spoke with our cover star, J Hus, and found out from the man himself how and why British music has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Fast forward to 2018, and we were chatting with the undisputed king of hip-hop producers, Metro Boomin, whose unwavering work ethic and constant desire for self-improvement has driven him to become the icon he is today. 2018 also gave us the opportunity to speak with the Scottish singer, songwriter and producer, Nina Nesbitt. Nina can do it all; she knows what she wants, how she wants it done, and has every motivation to do it. Much like another of our 2018 stars, Bring Me The Horizon’s frontman and entrepreneurial genius, Oliver Sykes. From way back in 2004 when the band formed, their success is a tale of perseverance, improvement and evolution; it is clear that every step the band has taken has been underpinned by a desire for natural progression – a mindset we can all aspire to. This leads us nicely into 2019, which in our eyes, has been another huge year to be thankful for. You will probably remember our conversation with the world’s heartthrob, Louis Tomlinson. Hailing from the undisputed biggest boy band of a generation and following the manic worldwide fame that cascaded upon One Direction back in 2010, Louis has spent the last few years allowing his newfound solo career to organically unfold. DEFINITELY a huge reason to celebrate.

And now we arrive at our 10th issue, and what an amazing journey it has been. We got the chance to experience the soulful, powerful and radiant energy of Britain’s very own Emeli Sandé, who has spent the year continuing to sour through heavenly heights with her retro-raw style, authentic lyrics and soulful sound. Born and raised on our tiny British isle, the power of her voice extends beyond all boarders, capturing the hearts of a nation and reinforcing all that we love about British music. On top of this, we also got the chance to immerse ourselves into the sound-fusion dreamland and nocturnal bliss of Australian trio, Chase Atlantic. With their unique musical style and undefined genre, Chase Atlantic are part of a burgeoning scene of young creatives that refuse to bow to any boundaries and will not be categorised into just one box. And to top it all off, we will also present to you the raw, pure and insanely refreshing sound of AURORA. Over the last few years, her icy, pealing vocals, deep concepts, dark lyricism and warm personality have won her a band of fans and admirers around the world. And this is such an exciting time for music!

But before we spoil all the surprises for you, please do sit back and enjoy the following pages. We hope to motivate, stimulate and inspire you with all these incredible stories. But most of all, we hope to encourage all of you reading this to think of some of the reasons you have to celebrate. After all, 2019 has been incredible, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us next.
