I had to wait a few moments after dialling in to chat to Australian rap protegee The Kid Laroi (Charlton Howard). I wasn’t waiting long, he just wasn’t quite awake yet. As I was told it was his mum who was rousing him, I was reminded that despite all the accolades he’s already received, this artist is still only 17.

You wouldn’t know it from his attitude, however. Yawning as he got on the call he was informed I was only one of four interviews he was giving in a row that morning, he laughed and groaned knowingly, showing that despite his young age he was already an old hand at dealing with the press. After all, it was a good cause, as all interviews were in aid of promoting his new project F**K LOVE (SAVAGE), a digital repackage of F**K LOVE which debuted in the top 10 of Billboard’s 200 charts this past summer.
