For Mae Muller, this month wasn’t supposed to go like this. November, when we meet over Zoom on a nondescript and prematurely dark Thursday evening from our respective London homes, was supposed to be the month Mae embarked on her second European headline tour. “I was meant to be playing Kentish Town forum, which would have been the CRAZIEST thing. We will just have to wait,” she sighs through a smile, remaining refreshingly positive in what has otherwise been a gruelling nine months. “This year has highlighted how turbulent this industry can be. Every emotion and every feeling has been maximised and times by a hundred. I take every day as it comes; if you’re having a bad day, tomorrow could be great. You have to be ready for the rollercoaster,” she continues.
